Former LA Lakers player and current analyst Vanessa Bryant was one of the first to know about her daughter Gianna’s death after she suffered a fatal helicopter crash on Feb. 8. Hours later, photos emerged that showed Bryan and other family members at the scene in California where they were trying to identify their loved ones.—

The “kobe bryant death” is the tragic news that Vanessa Bryant learned of hours after her husband, Kobe Bryant, was involved in a helicopter crash. The LA County Sheriff’s Department made sure no photos were taken at the scene to prevent any additional pain for Vanessa.

(CBSLA/AP) LOS ANGELES – According to a court transcript of Vanessa Bryant’s statement in her litigation case against Los Angeles County, she learnt that her husband Kobe and daughter Gianna had been murdered in a helicopter accident at roughly 11:30 a.m. on January 26, 2020.

Vanessa first learned that Kobe, who played for the Los Angeles Lakers for 20 years and was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame this year, and their 13-year-old daughter had been in an accident when a family member knocked on her door.

Vanessa was bombarded with “R.I.P. Kobe” warnings when she tried to phone Kobe.

According to court filings, Kobe Bryant’s wife asked with the Los Angeles County sheriff to ensure that no one took images from the scene of the 2020 helicopter accident that killed the basketball player, and he promised her that the location had been guarded.

According to a transcript of a deposition acquired by USA TODAY Sports on Saturday in her lawsuit against Los Angeles County, when Sheriff Alex Villanueva verified her husband, their teenage daughter, and seven others were dead, he asked Vanessa Bryant if he could do anything for her.

“And I added, ‘Please make sure no one snaps images of my husband and baby if you can’t bring them back.’ During the deposition, Vanessa Bryant stated, “Please secure the place.” “And he responded, ‘I’ll do it.’” ‘No, I need you to call right now, and I need you to make sure you protect the area,’ I responded.

Villanueva, she claimed, excused himself for a time and told her that when he returned, the area had been secured.

Villanueva has not responded to a message requesting comment.

Bryant, who is suing the county in federal court for invasion of privacy, claims in court filings that she has been suffering from “extreme mental anguish” as a result of the loss of her husband and daughter. First responders, including firemen and sheriff’s officers, are accused of sharing images of Kobe Bryant’s corpse with a bartender and passing around “gratuitous photos of the murdered children, parents, and coaches,” according to the complaint.

On Jan. 26, 2020, Kobe Bryant and the other passengers were murdered when the helicopter they were riding in crashed in the hills west of Los Angeles during foggy weather while on their way to a girls basketball tournament. The accident was blamed on pilot mistake by federal safety experts.

Vanessa Bryant and others are undergoing mental tests in order to ascertain whether they actually experienced emotional distress, according to Los Angeles County. In court documents, Bryant’s attorneys claim that the exams are “cruel,” while the county claims that they are “a standard component of the discovery process.”
