Shadow Rider Calyrex VMAX deck is a well-known and widely used Pokemon TCG Online Deck. It has many great cards, including Zacian V which is the main character in this deck. Psychic decks are making a comeback with Shadow Rider Calyrex VMAX. Sure, decks like Mewtwo & Mew-GX have done well in Standard, but they were toolbox decks that could make use of other Pokemon’s abilities. Shadow Rider Calyrex VMAX and the Trainer assistance it has gotten are quite similar to what Fire-type decks (Centiskorch, Reshizard) received with Welder last year.
Because to its tremendous ability, Shadow Rider Calyrex VMAX has become one of the best decks in Pokemon TCG Online when combined with all of these new trainer cards and some more Pokemon from Evolving Skies.
Underworld Door is a skill that allows you to enter the underworld. You may attach a Psychic Energy card from your hand to 1 of your Benched Psychic Pokémon once during your turn. Draw two cards if you linked Energy to a Pokémon this way.
Dire Wolf’s use of a card-drawing ability on a card that simultaneously accelerates Energy and attacks is bizarre. Because Evolving Skies had not yet been published, the card was completely broken when it was first issued. Shadow Rider Calyrex has returned stronger and more viable thanks to a few deck changes. It has performed well in a number of recent events. I’ll walk you through two variants of the deck in this guide: the “Turbo” deck, which depends on accelerating Energy, and the Zacian V and Necrozma V deck, which combines Shadow Rider Calyrex VMAX with Zacian, one of the best Pokemon in the 2020/21 meta.

I wouldn’t alter a single Pokemon on the list. Aside from the flagship VMAX, the rest are rather inexpensive and simple to purchase. You can live without the Scoop Up Net and Ordinary Road from the Trainers, but they are quite useful. You may also play with with different numbers of Air Balloon and Switch, since they are interchangeable. It’s also never a bad idea to have a few extra Boss’s Orders on hand.
In terms of the energies, I wouldn’t adjust the counts at all, and I strongly advise against using Horror Psychic Energy. While it allows Shadow Rider Calyrex VMAX to attack, it does not function with any energy-boosting abilities or attacks. You’d have to manually connect it, which would dilute the Energy pool and make it more difficult to get the essential Psychic Energy you truly desire.
Calyrex VMAX Shadow Rider with Fog Crystal
This deck’s primary attacker is Shadow Rider Calyrex VMAX, who has the ability to draw cards and connect Energy to Benched Pokemon. This works in conjunction with the attack:
Max Geist gets a ten out of ten. For each Psychic Energy linked to all of your Pokémon, this attack does an additional 30 damage.
The purpose of this deck is to have as much Energy as possible on all of your Pokemon while using Max Geist to deliver a lot of damage. This move has the advantage of just using 3 (Colorless) Energy and not requiring you to devote all of your energy to a single Pokemon. You’ll never be completely devoid of firepower if your primary attacker or someone on your Bench is knocked out.

On its alone, Shadow Rider Calyrex V is mediocre at best and causes very little damage. On your second turn, you should aim for a rapid evolution.
The vulnerability of Shadow Rider Calyrex VMAX is a disadvantage. Being confronted with an Eternatus or Umbreon VMAX deck will be a nightmare since this is a totally Psychic deck that depends only on Shadow Rider Calyrex VMAX.
Turbo is a team that focuses on speed.
For connecting Energy to your Pokemon and increasing Shadow Rider Calyrex VMAX’s damage, Galarian Articuno and Cresselia are excellent candidates.
Volcanion from the fire decks fulfills a similar function to Cresselia. It should preferably be the first card you play in the game so you may benefit from its attack:
Find a Psychic Energy card in your deck and attach it to one of your Pokémon. If you’re in second place and it’s your first turn, look for up to three Psychic Energy cards to connect to one of your Pokémon. After that, shuffle your cards.
If you win the coin toss, you should also go second. Cresselia’s second strike is identical to Volcanion’s, and it’s a fantastic way to attack and do enough damage before your VMAX arrives to complete the job.

In some aspects, last year’s Centiskorch deck in Pokemon TCG Online was a Fire-variant of the Shadow Rider Calyrex VMAX deck. Calyrex is a much superior variant of Centiskorch, who depended on pouring Energy into itself, whereas Cresselia is similar to Volcanion.
Pumpkaboo is in the deck to oppose Path to the Peak, a stadium card that can block your V/VMAX Abilities. Galarian Articuno is rather basic, and Pumpkaboo is in the deck to counter Path to the Peak, a stadium card that can block your V/VMAX Abilities.

The Zacian V deck’s mechanics
The synergy is straightforward in this case. From Celebrations, you have the new Psychic Type Zaican V, which has the following attack:
The Sword’s Roar You may search your deck for a Psychic Energy card and attach it to one of your Pokémon once during your turn. After that, shuffle your cards. Your turn ends if you use this Ability.
While you wait for the VMAX to be pulled from your deck, Zacian V is a good attacker who is best used to boost up your active Calyrex V. When you activate Zacian’s ability, your turn ends, so use it when you aren’t planning to attack or can’t.
You also have Necrozma V, which does additional damage if Special Energy is linked.
Exceptional Laser100+ This move does 120 extra damage if this Pokémon has any Special Energy connected.
Horror Psychic Energy is added to the deck to fulfill this requirement, which states that you will deal 100+120 damage to the opponent Pokemon, with an additional 20 damage dealt if they attack you back. This deck also includes Galarian Articuno, as well as Fog Crystal, a vital Trainer card that allows you to summon Psychic Pokemon and Energy. Additionally, the Stadium card Training Court has been included. It allows you to draw Energy cards from your discard pile, allowing you to stay up with your VMAX’s damage totals.
