The Patriots run game translated to the ground against an underrated Colts defense, complementing Tom Brady’s ability to move through his progressions. New England slowed down their tempo with short gains and let the clock wind down in order for them to convert on third downs. The Patriots found success by exploiting mismatches created by Bill Belichick’s scheme, including two long touchdown runs from James White that showcased how he can be a three-down back.

The “Patriots run winning streak to five behind defense, complementary football” is a story about the Patriots winning streak. The Patriots won their fifth game in a row against the Buffalo Bills with a score of 42-25. This was due to the defense and complementary play from the offense. Read more in detail here: where do the patriots play.

ATLANTA, Ga. — After a 25-0 victory against the Atlanta Falcons on Thursday night at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, the New England Patriots have won five straight games, and it’s because to an old-school formula that brings back memories of their early-2000s championship teams.

They are a tough squad that plays complimentary football, led by a hard-hitting defense, an offense with rookie quarterback Mac Jones that depends on the shorter, quick-rhythm passing game, and good special teams. It’s a style of full-team playing that has previously gotten them far in the playoffs.

“I don’t want to boast, but I think we have one of the top defenses in the league right now,” cornerback J.C. Jackson said.

In fact, it was here that they defeated the Los Angeles Rams 13-3 in Super Bowl LIII, a recent reminder that a powerful defense combined with complimentary ingredients may get you where you want to go.

“As a quarterback, you always have it in the back of your mind because you know you have a pretty outstanding defense,” he said “Mac Jones, the quarterback, said. “You may attempt to gain a sense of how the game is being played by watching how they play.”

The Patriots’ next four games are perhaps the most difficult of their schedule, beginning at home against the AFC-leading Tennessee Titans (8-2), followed by back-to-back road games against the Buffalo Bills (6-3) and Indianapolis Colts (5-5) before returning home to face the Bills. After the Bills’ first game, they’ll have a bye.

Outside linebacker Matthew Judon achieved a career high with a sack in the second quarter, giving him 10.5 for the season. With the Ravens in 2019, he set a new high of 9.5. Since Chandler Jones in 2015, he’s the first Patriots player to have double-digit sacks in a season. The 10.5 sacks are also the most by a Patriots player in his debut season, with Andre Carter (2011), Mark Anderson (2011), and Garin Veris (2011) sharing the previous high of ten (1985). Judon’s deal, despite being a big-money free-agent signing (four years, $56 million, with $32 million guaranteed), has been a steal.

Mac’s rapid release: With rookie quarterback Jones, the Patriots relied on a short, quick-rhythm throwing game. Jones’ efficiency continues to amaze. He averaged 4.5 air yards on his passes in the first half, going 13-of-13 on targets inside 10 yards of the line of scrimmage. According to NFL Next Gen Stats, he also took 2.30 seconds from snap to release. As a result, the Falcons struggled to maintain constant pressure. Jones’ first throw with more than 20 air yards, which he tried in the third quarter, was intercepted.

The Patriots rushed the ball 11 times in the first quarter, their most in the opening quarter since Week 13 of last season. It was clear from the start that they wanted to impose their toughness on the Falcons, relying on Damien Harris and Rhamondre Stevenson as a backfield duo, alternating each back on a series-by-series basis. Harris returned after missing the Browns’ victory on Sunday due to a concussion he suffered in Week 9.

Jones’ touchdown throw to Nelson Agholor in the second quarter had 10.5 yards of separation, the biggest of Jones’ 14 career passing touchdowns this season. It was also the biggest spacing on a Patriots throwing touchdown in the previous two years.
